Technology through Time

The course of history is visible not only in the major events, key documents, and astonishing innovations of the past, but also in the seemingly mundane. Even toasters have a story to tell that extends far beyond the realm of electric gadgets and cooking bread. Not to mention the cameras, typewriters and radios that revolutionized human communication.

Exhibit Series - Technology

The MonDak Heritage Center puts together many of its own special history exhibits using items from its extensive collection that have been generously donated by local individuals and businesses over the past 35 years. Among our latest "home-grown" exhibits is a new series featuring the technology of the past, researched and written by VISTA volunteer Curt Heimbuck. A read through Curt's articles will give you not only a sense of how home-use technologies developed in the early 20th century, but also how life was changing in that dynamic time. One of these exhibits may also be on display in our Outer Gallery space on the main floor of the museum, if you are interested in seeing one of them in person, please call (406) 433-3500 or send us an e-mail at mdhc@midrivers.com to find out when they will be available.
