MDHC Annual Art Shows, Exhibits and Events

Quilt Show - February 14th thru March 10th, 2012

Every February the MonDak Heritage Center reopens its galleries after a January cleaning to one of its most popular exhibits – the Annual Quilt Show! After more than a quarter of a Century, it's still going strong, with as many as 100 quilts filling the gallery with warmth and color in any given year. In addition to taking in the show, Quilt Show visitors can also join in special lectures and presentations about quilts, their history, caring and hanging them and much more. Be sure to attend in February and see how this craft has evolved over the years!

Celebrating Chocolate- Next Happening February 4th, 2012

Spend your evening celebrating chocolate at the MonDak Heritage Center. For a $20 ticket for members and $25 for non-members, you will be able to enjoy a chocolate buffet with complimentary wine and other refreshments. You and your friends can sample chocolate-y creations while supporting cultural activities and collections preservation at the Center. There will also be music, silent auction, a raffle and door prizes to fill out the night. We hope to see you at this delectable event!

Youth Art Show - Next Happening March 14th thru April 14th, 2012

The MonDak Heritage Center hosts an annual Youth Art Show every year to encourage young artists to pursue their talents and to give them a place to display their works. Sponsors for the show also provide prize money. Participating students range from middle school to high school age, and their artwork includes drawings, color graphics, sculpture, and mixed media. A reception for the young artists is typically held. For details on how to enter, please see our youth art prospectus.

Miniature Art Show - Next Happening November 15th thru December 31, 2011

Another very popular show at the MonDak is its annual Miniature Art Show. Drawing entries form across the nation and across the world, the show is an amazing display of fine detail on a tiny scale. When viewing the miniature art, the first inclination is to lean in, squint, and look closer. To aid those viewers the museum provides magnifiers to help visitors appreciate the true artistry found in these small gems. See how theses paintings stand up to the closest inspection and you will appreciate the intricacy and exquisite detail of this art form exhibited each winter at MDHC. MonDak Christmas - Next Happening December 11, 2011

As a community cultural center, the MonDak Heritage Center is always mindful of its debt to the local community and its supporters. At Christmas time, the museum hosts an annual Christmas celebration in early December to thank the community for all its support. The Christmas often has an ethnic theme, featuring Christmas foods, traditions and music from many different countries. A tree decorating contest, bake sale and Dutch auction are also among the many activities scheduled each year.
